Biography: Jonathan Trivers
Jonathan Trivers, author of One Stop Marketing published by John Wiley & Sons in October, 1996, is a marketer by training and a teacher/trainer by avocation. He has spent 22 years marketing products and programs. His experience is both retail and manufacturing: Sears(twelve years), Hollytex Carpet Mills (six years) and Abbey Carpet Co. (four years).
From l991 - June, l995, Jon was the President and COO of Abbey Carpet Co., the oldest and largest floor covering franchiser in the U.S. Abbey Carpet doubled the number of stores and quadrupled its sales volume in those four years. Abbey Carpet has 650 franchises in 49 states with an annual volume of $900 million.
Jon also spent ten years teaching marketing and marketing related classes at Southern Oregon University and counseled more than 1,400 small businesses.
Jon is an excellent communicator. He uses humor effectively to make his points and involve the listener. He is a personality who communicates the principles of marketing like no one else.
Jon is contributing editor to Floor Covering Weekly, a Hearst business publication. Readers might not always agree with him, but both manufacturers and retailers read his monthly column.
Jon completed for Floor Covering Weekly “marketWise: The Annual Report of The Floor Covering Industry.” It describes the industry in the full value the customer pays and projects sales by product category out to 2010.
On a personal note, Jon and his wife Karen moved to Nova Scotia for the sole purpose of running a summer day camp on their 90 acre property for economically disadvantaged children and one week for severely handicapped children. This will be their fifth year and the 1,000th child will come to Acorn Farm Camp this summer.
