Dr. Peter J. Ludovice, Associate Professor of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering, Georgia Institute of TechnologyBiography: Dr. Peter J. Ludovice

Dr. Peter J. Ludovice is an Associate Professor of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois and M.I.T. respectively. After postdoctoral work at IBM, NASA and the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule in Zürich Switzerland, he was the manager of polymer products for Molecular Simulations Inc. before joining the Georgia Tech faculty.

His research interests include the use of computer simulation of synthetic and biological macromolecules to provide insight into important structure property relationships. Recent work from his lab has explained the unique conformation of poly(norbornene) synthesized using a vinyl-like polymerization rather than the Ring Open-Metathesis Polymerization (ROMP) approach. While this polymer is currently being used as a photoresist material in the microelectronics industry, its conformational behavior makes it an ideal resiliency-enhancing additive for carpet fiber.
